PBL at MPS

The Future of Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) at Macquarie Primary School

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) has long been a cornerstone of our vibrant school culture at Macquarie Primary School. Thanks to the dedication of our staff, students, and families, our current PBL framework has established strong foundation values across our classrooms and playgrounds. However, as part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we are always looking for ways to refine our practices and better support student growth. To build on this solid foundation and elevate our culture of positivity and teamwork, we are excited to share the future of PBL at MPS—a refreshed, research-backed system launching in Term 1, 2027!

What’s New for 2027?

We are updating our recognition approach to focus on collective achievement, timely praise, and explicit teaching of our core values.

Moving from individual tracking to team success. Whole classes will now earn tokens together by demonstrating our core PBL values—Respectful, Safe, and Learners. Classroom totals will feed into a central display in our front foyer, unlocking fun whole-school celebrations each term!

Immediate, meaningful recognition. We are transitioning from traditional bronze, silver, and gold tiers to more frequent Merit Awards presented at assemblies and Monday morning lines.

Updated curriculum. We are updating our PBL curriculum to ensure our learning programs directly support student wellbeing, belonging, and day-to-day success across all settings.
