Students who move into our Priority Enrolment Area during the year can be enrolled continuously. Please make contact with us as soon as you know you are moving into the area.

Non-Permanent Residents of Australia

Children who are not permanent residents of Australia are welcome to enrol at Macquarie Primary School. Their eligibility to attend a school in the ACT as a non-fee paying international student must first be clarified by the International Education Unit of the ACT Department of Education. A student's status as non-fee or fee paying is dependent upon their visa.

Parents/carers of non-permanent resident children should contact the International Education Unit on 02 6205 9176.

Preschool

In the ACT children are eligible for a year of government preschool if they turn four before 30 April in that year. At Macquarie our preschool offers two sessions.

Kindergarten

In the ACT children are eligible to move into Kindergarten or commence school in Kindergarten if they turn five before 30 April in that year.

Immunisation

The ACT Department of Health requires schools to collect information regarding each student's immunisation status. An Immunisation Record can be:

  • A child's "Blue Book", or
  • A statement from the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register, or
  • A similar statement or record from other jurisdictions

Non-immunised children will be excluded from school in the event of an outbreak of a disease that is preventable by immunisation.
